Gino

Low Roman Live/Work Bench

Gino is our take on the low woodworking bench discovered in illustrations and frescos unearthed at Pompeii and Herculaneum in the early twentieth century. Gino is an homage to some of the earliest woodworkers as well as Christopher Schwarz, whose research and eventual replication has inspired scores of other resurrections of this ancient design. Built from construction grade Douglas fir, accented with beech and oak accessories, Gino comes with work-holding features and accessories (see above), but is quickly transformed from ‘work’ to ‘live’ by a hand-tufted wool-filled linen cushion snapped into place with leather straps. Height based on user preference (generally the distance from the floor to just under the kneecap).
